Formula design
Calculators use arithmetic that can be reproduced with a basic spreadsheet. Intermediate figures are shown when they materially affect the decision. Cost, pay, tax effect, reimbursement, and profit labels are kept distinct to avoid counting the same amount twice.
High-stakes pages favor user-entered current figures over hidden tables. The IFTA calculator requires current rate inputs; the net-pay planner requires withholding assumptions rather than guessing a final tax return.
Source hierarchy
Primary sources take priority: official IFTA matrices and base-jurisdiction instructions, IRS publications and tools, FMCSA regulations and guidance, lender disclosures, contracts, pay statements, rate confirmations, fuel receipts, ELD records, and business accounting records.
Examples, recruiter estimates, forum discussions, and generic market ranges are not treated as controlling evidence.
Testing and corrections
Every calculator default is tested for finite output, zero-denominator handling, and negative-result verdicts. Every public page is checked for unique metadata, canonical URL, internal links, content depth, labeled inputs, and Netlify routing.

How this policy applies
This page applies to the public Driver Pay Calc website, its browser-based calculators, locally created downloads, locally saved scenarios, shared scenario links, and the optional contact form. It should be read together with the calculator disclaimer, privacy policy, and methodology.
If a feature, provider, or data practice changes, the relevant policy and interface should be updated before the feature is released. The review date identifies the latest substantive revision, not a promise that every external source remains unchanged.
Review and update cycle
A substantive review is triggered when a formula changes, a primary source changes, a time-sensitive example needs clarification, or a reproducible correction is accepted. A date change should represent actual review, not a cosmetic freshness signal. Quarterly IFTA figures are not silently copied into the calculator because a preliminary or old table can look authoritative after it expires.
Tests check default, zero-value, and negative-result cases and verify generated metadata, security policy, routing, forms, links, labels, and content depth. Testing cannot prove that a user's records are complete or that a treatment applies to a particular contract or tax situation. The visible inputs, page limits, and controlling source remain part of the method.
