FAQ

What is baseline vs current fuel price?

Baseline is the contract trigger price. Current is the diesel price used for the current week or billing period.

How is surcharge per mile calculated?

The default DOE formula is (current fuel price - baseline fuel price) / MPG. This returns dollars per mile.

Can I use a flat cents-per-mile surcharge?

Yes. Switch the method to flat CPM if your shipper or broker uses a fixed surcharge amount.

How are surcharges negotiated?

Many lanes use a published fuel index plus a baseline trigger, but terms vary by customer and contract.

What MPG should I assume?

Many fleets model around 6.0-8.0 MPG. Use your own historical MPG for the most realistic estimate.
